Silhouetted Landscapes On View

I have to say, the ceramic candy apples looked great in the showcase. The mirrors behind them gave a multiple effect. The light from above made the apples look bright and shiny and the glazes looked like real caramel, chocolate and red candy apple.  Ground corn cob was used as nuts.It was nice to hear from people that the apples looked so real. I made sure the students had the opportunity to take  their apples home before Halloween. I hope they get to enjoy them for many years to come.

Now on view are silhouetted landscapes done with black crayon, black India ink, brush and straws.  Blowing through the straw at a drop of ink created fine lines that resemble branches and twigs. It's a cool technique because the lines are finer than what a brush can create. The magic in art is simply the technique.  Orange, yellow and other painted colors  created a brilliant colored sky for the background. The effect is very dramatic.

Our ceramic pumpkins and other ceramic items have been bisque fired and are now ready to be glazed.  They too, will be displayed in the showcase.

Grades closed last Friday. The silhouetted landscapes and glazed ceramics grades will go towards the 2nd quarter.

Please visit and take a look at the fine art work these creative minds are doing.
